"foreigners who purchase houses in Pattaya are often pursuaded by their Thai wifes." Why wouldn't they? If the marriage breaks up or she walks away from the relationship the house goes with her?

How can this be? A foreigner cannot out-right own a house in Thailand with out going through some outrageous scheme of owning a business or a paper (fake) company

For this to really work, Thai Immigration has got to start "rubber stamping" retirement and long-stay visas making them more attractive and easier to get. The present hassles and reporting systems are an impediment. IMO.
