PATTAYA – September 13, 2012 [PDN]; at 10:30 p.m., the arrest of three drunken thieves was announced by Pol. Col. Supphathee Boonkrong, Deputy Commander, Chonburi province; Pol. Col. Thammanoon Munkong, Superintendent, Pattaya police station; Pol. Maj. Kovit Sawatmongkol, Inspector, Pattaya police station, Chonburi province; and the police team.
The three suspects were identifed as: Mr. Theeraphong Janpetch, age 24, address 21 Moo 1 Tambon NongYai, Amphur Prasart, Surin province; Mr. Kalong Somrak, age 26, address 34/2 Moo 14 Tambon Koodwai, Amphur Seekhoraphum,Surin province; and Mr. Chatree Kairat, age 32, address 28 Moo 2 Tambon Moongmai, Amphur Warinchamrab, Ubonratchathani province.
They are accused of robbery, with the evidence of the victim’s stolen property consisting of a black-brown lady’s handbag, a brown purse containing 4,560 THB, a Samsung mobile phone, and a cosmetics bag.
The suspects were arrested at the middle of Soi Bongkot in south Pattaya 4 Moo 10 Tambon Nong Preu, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province.
Pol. Col. Supphathee Boonkrong said that at 7.30 a.m. on September 13, the suspects beat and injured their victim, Mr. Jakkree Bootsriphum, age 26, address 136 Moo 10 Tambon Baan Chiang, Amphur Nong Harn, Udornthani province.
The beating and subsequent robbery took place in front of Suan Nam restaurant on Soi Bongkot in south Pattaya. During questioning, the defendants confessed that they drank liquor until they got drunk, and then had a quarrel with the victim. They beat him until he was injured, and then stole his property.
Initially, only Mr. Theeraphong admitted to robbing the victim. The other two suspects denied being part of the robbery. However, the police had evidence and enough witnesses to prosecute all defendants on the charges. So the police sent the three defendants to the investigation officer to prosecute further according to the law.
