A Lamsalee game café supervisor and a gay bar worker in the Bangkok gay district were arrested for the sexual abuse of minors. The 34-year-old bar worker confessed to paying 100 to 200 baht for sex with boys in the café.

BANGKOK – August 13, 2012 [PDN]; At 6 p.m., a detective police team reported the arrests of Mr.Surachart, 34, and Mr. Atthapol Rojanawipat, 26, for child sexual abuse.

The police officers had gone to check a game café in the Lamsalee area. They found some boys in the café who were about 15- to18-years-old.

When questioned by police, the boys said they were waiting for the entertainment spot opposite the café to close. After the closing, the gay visitors would come to pay them for sex.

Police later arrested Mr. Surachart, who confessed that he worked as a “visitor cheerer” of the gay bar. Mr. Surachart said that he knew Mr. Atthapol, who was the game café supervisor.

After finishing work, Mr. Surachart would come to the game café to buy boys for sex. Mr. Surachart admitted having sex with a boy on three occasions, and would pay the boy between 100 to 200 baht each time.

After the initial investigation, the police charged Mr. Surachart with the sexual abuse of children under 15-years-old, and sent him to the detective team.
