PATTAYA – August 8, 2012 [PDN]; The Pattaya Journalist Association grand opening was held at Diana Garden Resort in north Pattaya. PJA chairman Mr. Amporn Sangkaew, along with consultant Mr. Chaiyot Poopattanapong, welcomed the attending government officers, politicians, local politicians, business people, merchants and other honored guests.

Attending dignitaries included Mr. Ittipol Khunpluem, PM of Muang Pattaya; Mr. Attapon Wannakit, director of Thailand’s tourist authority, Pattaya office; Mr. Mai Chaiyanit, mayor of Nongprue municipality; Mrs. Sopin Tepjack, administrative committee of Diana group; Pattaya members of the parliament; and the Sriracha Media Association.
The Pattaya Journalist Association was officially registered on June 22, 2012 as an assembling of news people. The PJA has formed 8 committees. Its first chairman is Mr. Amporn Sangkaew, news editor of Banglamung Pattaya cable TV.

The theme of the grand opening party was “The Day We Had Been Waiting For,” because Pattaya journailists had been competitively fighting with each other for many years. The establishment of the association was for development of the Muang Pattaya area to suit and fit to the ASEAN vision of the future by 2015.
The PJA represents a commitment by present day media to broadcast news and the truth to the public, and to be accepted and recognized for their role in society by government offices and private sectors.
At the ceremony, money was distributed from an education budget giving 1,500 baht each to 18 promising students.
