ANGTHONG – August 4, 2012 [PDN]; police officers of Pothong Angthong were notifed by villagers that they had helped a girl who had just run away from home after being continually raped by her father.
The police and Social Development officers went to pick up “Miss Preaw” (alias), age 16, who was still in shock and crying repeatedly. A woman with her, “Ms. Nok” (alias), told police that Miss Preaw called her last night and cried for help, so she took the girl in her house to stay overnight.
During questioning, Miss Preaw told police that she could not stand living in her house any longer, because she had been repeatedly raped by her father for almost five years.
The sexual assaults began when she was in 6th grade, and continued until the present. Miss Preaw said she was forced to quit school in the 8th grade by her father, who began locking her in the house for many days at a time.
When she took showers, she said her father always peeked at her, and would sometimes rape her afterwards. When she told her mother about her father’s assaults, her mom always replied, “Don’t make it big.”
About two years ago, her father came home angry for no apparent reason. He ordered her to go to her bed before he raped her. Miss Preaw asked her father if he still thinks of her as his daughter. Her father replied that he regards her as his daughter and also his wife. Her father continued to rape Miss Preaw until she decided to run away.
Authorities in the Children and Family Shelter in Angthong have taken Miss Preaw to live in the shelter. They brought her to the police to file a report and will assist in prosecuting her father.
Miss Preaw will be taken care of at the Angthong shelter to heal and recover from the damage to her mind that is still in bad condition.
