A yacht captain guiding a pleasure tour to Pai island died after he fell off a Jet Ski during windy conditions. High waves had knocked him off the Jet Ski. The ensuing darkness hampered searchers, and his body was not found until the afternoon of the next day.

PATTAYA – July 31, 2012 [PDN]; At 3:30 p.m., Pol. Lt. Capt. Sirachai Nooted, investigation officer on duty of Muang Pattaya police station, received a report that the body of a drowned man was recovered north of koh Pai, Banglamung, Chonburi. The rescue team of Sawang Boriboon foundation Pattaya had brought the body to Bali Hai shore in south Pattaya.

At the scene, police checked the body of the dark-skinned man, wearing a jumper and trousers. A wound on his face appeared to have been caused by being bashed by a solid object. There was also blood from his mouth and his eye. A silver ring was on his left ring finger.

He was identified as Mr. Treerat Sodsong, 36, living at the house number 202/1, moo 6, Huay Yai, Banglamoong Chonburi.

Police questioned his wife, Ms. Kanda Saiyai, 23. She said that her husband was a yacht captain at the Pattaya Seed tour company. Ms. Kanda said that on the evening of July 30, her husband had taken the owner of the 44-foot yacht named “Thunder Bird” to travel to Koh Pai. They had anchored the yacht at the north side of island.

Then her husband rode on the Jet Ski, but the wind was too strong at the time. Waves knocked him off the Jet Ski into the sea. From about 8 p.m., the rescue team searched for Mr. Treerat. They did not find him until the next day at 3 p.m., when his body was discovered.
