PATTAYA – July 18, 2012 [PDN]; At 4.30 p.m. Mr. Boonyeun Nonthapan, 49, the driver of Songthaew number 113, license number 20-5857, Chonburi, went to see the investigating officer at the Pattaya police station to turn in items he had found on his vehicle. The items included 8,000 Euro (approximately 400,000 THB ), and a notebook computer belonging to Mr. Daniel Andre Joly, 62, a French National. Reporters at the station also saw the event.
Mr. Boonyeun, the good-hearted driver, revealed that Mr. Daniel had got on his Songthaew in front of Roongreung tour company (Bangkok-Pattaya) in North Pattaya, and later got off in front of the Sawasdee hotel in South Pattaya, apparently leaving his possesions behind.
When Mr. Boonyeun parked his “baht bus” to wait for the customers, he checked the passenger seats and found Mr. Daniel’s wallet and notebook computer. So he consulted with his boss in the Songthaew co-operative and agreed to find the owner of the wallet. But Mr. Boonyeun could not find Mr. Daniel, so he went to return cash and notebook computer at the police station, who located Mr. Daniel.
The news reporter at the station reported that after Mr. Daniel got his property back, he was extremely relieved, and repeatedly thanked the Songthaew driver and gave him 500 Euro for his good deed.
