PATTAYA – June 20 , 2012 [PDN]; at 15:30, Pol.Col.Chaiyot Warakjunkiart-director of Chonburi Immigration Police, Pol.Lt.Col. Rattapong Tiasud-vice director, Pol.Lt.Col. Saroj Jitsanguan-inspector,Pol.Col.Thanusilp Duangkaewngam-vice inspector and the investigation team of Chonburi Immigration Police and staffs from the Shelter for Children and Women an Family said that they had arrested 97 beggars Cambodians ,Burmese and Laotians who had entered to Thailand illegally: 43 were men, 18 were women, and including 39 beggars, 8 were men, 14 were women, 11 boys and 6 girls.
Pol.Col.Chaiyot Warakjunkiat – director of Chonburi Immigration, said that the government had announced that the state security policy would improve the immigration system, by adapting new immigration methods, re-organising border points and improving the whole system of recording immigrant workers.
Pol.Lt.Gen. Wiboon Bangtamai- commissioner of Immigration office commanded to speed up the deportation all of the illegal immigrants who had come to Thailand to work illegally or to beg.
In Pattaya town the immigration police have been getting them off the streets continually. Most recently on June 20, the immigration police reported that many illegal immigrants were roaming on foot paths, on road side and the annoying tourists.
So the police took action and caught many of them in Pattaya and Chonburi.
The arrest of the beggars was done in co ordination with staff from social development and human anti trafficking agencies. All the illegal immigrants will investigated and interviewed by the concerned agencies. Thereafter they all will be deported to their respective countries.
