NAKHON RATCHASIMA – June 19, 2012 [PDN]; Bua Yai police station, Nakhon Ratchasima province was notified about a robbery of Sinchai gold shop, located in the middle of Bua Yai municipal market.
The gold shop is located in a rental building address: 165 Train road, Bua Yai, district Nakhon Ratchasima province only 200 meters away from Bua Yai police station.
Mrs. Wanvimol Jindarattanasin, the owner of Sinchai gold shop said as she was selling gold in the shop with her younger sister suddenly a thief wearing a black black jacket, jeans and black helmet, age approximately 40-45, in his hand a small fruit knife ran into the shop shouted loudly and walked directly to the glass display cabinet smashed the glass and grabbed 17 gold necklaces weight 1 THB and 7 gold necklaces weight 1 saleung. Thereafter the thief ran away and disappeared. Total value of the stolen gold about 500,000 THB.
Upon inspecting the CCTV footage from the 7-Eleven shop nearby. The police saw that a monk came in to buy a newspaper, gloves and a fruit knife just before the robbery.
The police assumed that the thief might be the monk due to the knife that he was using and the glove to hit the display cabinet in the gold shop were the same type as on the CCTV.
Besides, the police also found the bag containing the jeans and the jacket that the suspect was wearing. The items were found thrown away only a few meters from the scene of the robbery.
Later, the police arrested the suspect, the thief, monk Anuphol or Mr. Anuphol Chujit age 39, was who was arrested in a monk dress in Wat Baanrainonthonglang, Bua Yai, Nakhon Ratchasima province in possession of 35 stolen gold necklaces.
Mr. Anuphol confessed that he had disguised himself to look like common people and rob the gold shop. He had just been ordained for only 10 days.
Monk Anuphol was kicked out of the monastery and detained at the police station and he will be prosecuted according to the full extent of the law.
