Canadian Sisters Found Dead on Phi Phi Island – Poisoning?

The bodies of two Canadian sisters have been found dead in a resort on Phi Phi island. Their cause of death is being investigated.

KRABI – June 16, 2012 [PDN]; The Phi Phi Island police were notified about the death of two Canadian citizens, Miss Noemi and Miss Audrey, aged 26 and 20 found in a room at Phi Phi Palms Residence. Their bodies were brought to the provincial hospital on the mainland.

The two Canadian sisters had reportedly checked in on June 12, and had gone out to visit pubs in the evening.

The resort maid who had not seen them since the afternoon of June 16 became suspicious and opened the door with a master key. There was vomit all over the room. The two dead women had skin lesions and apparent gum bleedings. Their finger and toenails showed had blue-black discoloration.

The initial police inspection indicated that the victims had been dead between 12-20 hours before they were found. Their bodies are kept at Krabi hospital. The Canadian embassy has been informed and autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of the death.
