PATTAYA – May 8, 2012 [PDN]; Mr. Phongthasit Pijanan the sheriff of Banglamung, Chonburi province together with Banglamung municipality staff, Pattaya police and Banglamung Civil Defense Volunteers.
Totally 100 officers closed Soi 6 entertainment center in South Pattaya to inspect a number of beer bars and go-go bars. The action was by order from Mr. Komsan Aekkachai, Chonburi provincial governor in order to clamp down on consumption of drugs such as crystal methamphetamine or “ya-ice” .

The officers also checked the permits to operate the entertainment center venues and liqueur permits for 70 shops. Identity cards of the employees were also inspected.
All of the employees had correct work permits and no employees under the age under of 18 were found.
The officers conducted random drug urine tests of beer-bar’s employees and the go-go bar staff. Out of 400 persons 60 failed the test: 50 women and 10 ladyboys.

Most of the suspects said they had not taken illegal drugs. They blamed it antipyretic medicine or anti-obesity medication. The officers didn’t buy that.
However, the all urine samples were sent to Banglamung hospital for further laboratory tests.
The 60 suspects were arrested and sent to Pattaya police station to be investigated and prosecuted according to the law.
