PATTAYA – May 5, 2012 [PDN]; Pol. Lt. Kristha Prathumkaew, Pattaya police, was informed about a burglar entering U-Thong gold shop through the roof and stealing gold and cash worth one million THB. The gold shop is located behind Wat Chaimongkol market, South Pattaya, Banglamung, Chonburi province.
At crime scene of the four story gold shop building, the police found Mrs. Pimphaka Jirachoksapsin, age 53 with her husband and relatives. Upon inspection, the police found that the thief had stolen gold necklaces weighing about 20 THB, Buddha images, 50 golden coins and 200,000 THB in cash.
The thief had covered the two CCTV units in the shop with a t-shirt and a towel. The burglar had also searched the closet whree they kept gold.
The police inpected where the thief entered through the roof top on the 4th floor, the thief then went into the owner’s bedroom on the 4th floor and stole 100 Buddha images and more than 10 golden coins that were all kept in a drawer.
The owner of the gold shop said that they had closed the shop due to holidays. Nobody was in the shop.
At 20:00 the owner was informed by phone from the neighbor, the owner of the watch shop and the pharmacy, that a burglary had taken place and the burglar might have gone into her gold shop as well.
Later the police inspected the watch shop: Muang Ploy shop was located next to U-Thong gold shop and Chaiyapreuk pharmacy where the the thief had entered through the roof into these shops. The owner’s of the watch shop and the pharmacy informed that the thief didn’t steal anything.
The police believes that the thief climbed the iron fence into the pharmacy on the 4th floor and went in through the roof. The pharmacy’s owner was on the first floor but didn’t know that the thief had descended into the 4th floor.
The burglar then climbed over to the watch shop and but the owner said the thief didn’t take anything. The owner of the shop was on the first floor and didn’t know that the thief had climbed into the 4th floor, too.
Then the thief climbed to the the gold shop, stole the the valuables, and escaped through the back of the building.
The owner of the gold shop suspects that the thief might be a friend of a Burmese employee of the grocery store next to the gold shop.
In the morning before the theft, she saw the Burmese employee talking to his friend in front of the shop so the police informed the owner of the grocery store but there was nothing suspicious.
The police concluded there might have been one or two thieves who were well prepared and knew that the gold shop was closed that day and the owners were away. The police will collect fingerprints from the crime scene and will investigate all the suspects and witnesses living near the three shops in order to arrest the suspects as soon as possible.
