PATTAYA – May 1, 2012 [PDN]; Pol. Lt. Gen. Panya Mamen, Commissioner section 2 and Pol. Maj. Gen. Jamnong Rattanakul, Commissioner Chonburi province, Pol. Col. Thammanoon Munkong, Superintendent Pattaya police and special police team arrested 10 teenagers male and female aged 18 and under.
The suspects were identified as Mr. M age 17 gang leader, Mr. Goh age 15, Mr. Golfnon age 16, Mr. A age 15, Mr. Tee age 17, Mr.Golfyoong age 17, Mr. Man age 17, Ms. Kittiya, age 18, Ms. Noojjaree or “Nooj”Wongtecha age 18, Ms. Ying age 17 and Ms. Chanida Saparam age 47, the owner of Mungkornthong gold shop, address 33/74 Soi Buakhao, central Pattaya suspected of buying the stolen goods: 11 gold necklaces, 59 gold Buddha images, 1 revolver, caliber .38, 3 motorbikes and 1 pickup truck which was used in the snatch & run operations.
The victims, three Russian couples identified the suspects.Pol. Lt. Gen. Panya Mamen said, that at 22:00 hours on April 30, 2012 a snatch & run case was reported. The thief ran away with the necklace towards Laem Balihai bridge.The police forces were mobilised to arrest the six thieves who escaped into Soi Batman.Moments later the police arrested 4 female teenagers members of the same gang. At the same time Ms. Chanida Saparam, the owner of Mungkornthong gold shop was being investigated, suspected of buying stolen goods.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Panya Mamen added that all the teenagers confessed that they worked as a team. Their modus operandi: The first motorbike which Mr. ” M ” was riding Mr. “Goh” the pillion rider his duty was to pull the necklace off the victim. The second motorbike Mr. “Golfnon” the rider and Mr. “A” the passenger both of them were the protectors. The third motorbike, Mr. “Tee” the rider and Mr. “Golfjung” the passenger, their duty was to look for the victims.
Mr. “Goh”, the person who pulled the necklace off the victim gave the necklace to Mr. “Golfjung” in case he would be searched by the police. Then the necklace was passed to Ms. “Phon” age 18, girl friend of Mr. “M” and Ms. “Nooch age 18, girl friend of Mr. “Tee”. The girls would sell the necklaces to Mungkornthong gold shop in Soi Bua Khao.
All of them confessed that they had together stolen more than 10 necklaces. The money was used for travelling and drugs.The police detained all the suspects who will be further investigated and thereafter prosecuted according to the Thai law.
