According to the report, the new ticket, coined ‘Rabbit’, is now for sale for the first time today. The Rabbit ticket will entirely replace the old smart cards by May 1st. However, the single ticket approach is expected to be incorporated with both the MRT and BRT by the end of this year.
A BTS smart card holder will be able to obtain the Rabbit card without any additional charges from May 1st onwards. However, those who do not possess such card will be able to purchase one for 50 baht while an additional 50 baht deposit will also be required. A card holder can top up or purchase a monthly rate trip in one card. It is expected that there will be 1.5 million holders of the Rabbit card once all three transportation systems adopt the same ticket.
