PATTAYA – March 2, 2012 [PDN]; Pol. Lt. Col. Veeravuth Meelai, Pattaya police was notified about two Indian tourists who stole a motorbike in front of Nova Platinum hotel Soi 16/1, Pattaya, Chonburi.
The owner of the motorbike saw the thieves and followed them to Avenue department store, Soi Pattaya 13/1 where they were caught.
The bike owner Mr. Morakot Promtra age 30 address 42/140 Moo 5 Tambon Nong Preu, Banglamung, Chonburi province, occupation motorbike taxi rider # 8 at Soi 16/1 (Soi Tonnoon) and the two thieves: Mr. Govind Lal age, 43 and Mr. Goel Varun Kumar age, 28 both of them drunk. Sitting on the stolen bike: Honda Wave i 125, black-grey color, license number NGOR ROR WOR-489 Chonburi.
Mr. Morakot said that he had parked his taxi motorbike in Soi 16/1 (Soi Tonnoon) because he needed to go to the toilet. He asked his friends to watch his bike. But when he came back his bike was gone.
Mr. Morakot’s friends said that two foreigners walked out of Nova Platinum stole his bike and rode away direction to Wat Chaimongkol.
Mr. Morakot and his friends notified the police and found them riding his motorbike in front of The Avenue department store Pattaya, opposite Soi Pattaya 13/1.
Upon investigation, Mr. Govind Lal age 43 and Mr. Goel Varun Kumar age 28; the Indians said they were drunk and just wanted to borrow Mr. Morakot’s motorbike for a joyride but did not intend to steal it.
A Thai interpreter negotiated with Mr. Morakot to forgive the two thieves but Mr. Morakot wanted the police to prosecute them.
The police charged the two Indians with theft. They will be prosecuted according to the Thai to the law.
