Pattaya, February 28, 2012 [PDN]; Mr. Chaowalit Saenguthai, Banglamung sheriff, Pol. Col. Somneuk Jankate, Superintendent, Banglamung police and Mr. Somchai Wimansak, Commissioner of Pattaya prison mobilised forces of Banglamung police and related government & municipal agencies totally 200 officers raid Pattaya prison.
The Tuesday early morning raid was conducted in the prison cells, the communal areas including private lockers.
The result: In section 4 & 5 in a locker the officers found ya-ice: 1.1 g and drug paraphernalia belonging to the male prisoner Anothai Denkam.

In section 10 the female prison area the officers discover five female prisoners who are forced to have their infants to live with them in their cells.
The female prisoners all of them drug offenders are feeding their babies age 1-3 in jail since they don’t want their relatives to know. They say, their husbands have abandoned them.
Pattaya prison was designed and built for 1.100 inmates. Currently the prison is overcrowded with 3,571 prisoners; 2,885 male prisoners and 686 female prisoners, including foreigners. 80 percent of the inmates are drug offenders. Total prison staff only 60 officers.
