Share
A schools of fish swam from the Gulf of Siam to the Bangsaen shores and the villagers the caught tons of fish using all their avaliable equipment such as seines, fishnets, and dip-nets. The cause of this phenomena was due to a change in the marine ecology system which raised the oxygen level in the sea.

Chonburi, February 2, 2012 [PDN]; Mr. “Oh” one fisherman said, told the PDN reporter that the government had released too much fresh water into the sea and couldn’t adjust water level.

The oxygen rich, fresh water reached the tide and suddenly there was an abundance of “seafood” like sting ray, ray, shrimp, crab, silver silago, and pony fish.

In the morning, the fishermen had brought their nets to catch the fish and they caught tons and tons of of it and it was the kind they wanted. Expensive – some fish fetching 80-100 THB per kilogram.

Mr. “Oh” said, that there was no fish in the villagers black stake traps laid out 5-10 metres deep. All the fish had escaped to the shore. He added, this phenomenon would not last long and we should wait and see.
