Megaupload.com File sharing Site Banned

Last week the U.S. government banned a well known file sharing website, Megaupload.com.

It is not an ordinary ban because the organization that implemented it was the United States Department of Justice and the charges were: “Megaupload is an international criminal organization that support the violation of copyrights”. Four Megaupload.com executives were arrested in New Zealand all charged with violating copyright laws. The culprits will be sent back to U.S.A.

The assets of the company are registered in Hong Kong were seized. The banning of Megaupload was a coordinated operation by the FBI together with police forces from eight different countries.

General users can download files in Megaupload for free but but many users pay a premium so they can have an unrestricted and unlimited downloading.

The violation of copyright in the cyber space has been a problem for a long time and now the US government has taken serious action to get rid of all of them.

But the internet users will certainly find some other ways to exchange files such as BitTorrent, to replace the previous method.
