Sad Pattaya Chinese NY Show Pole Dancer Falls 25 Meters

A Nakorn Sawan lion dancer fell from a 25 meter high pole while performing in front of a large crowd in South Pattaya. The seriously injured performer is in ICU.

Pattaya, January 23, 2012 PDN]; Pattaya Daily News reported that a man had been gravely injured after crashing from a 25 meter high pole while performing a lion dance

The accident happened in front of Friendship department store, South Pattaya.

The PDN reporter said, the injured man’s name was Mr.Somporn Promnet age, 44 a lion dancer from Nakorn Sawan province and member of the Golden Dragon dance troop.

Mr. Somporn was lying unconscious on the asphalt of the parking lot where the performance took place. The Pattaya Memorial Hospital staff were resuscitating him before transporting him to the emergency room of the hospital.

The security guards of the Frendship department store said, that the lion dancers came from Nakorn Sawan to perform a lion a dance for the customers of the department store. Part of the Chinese New Year celebrations.

The injured man, climbed up to the top of the pole which was raised on the parking lot grounds. When he reached the top he tried to tie his belt to the pole but lost his balance and fell head first to the ground. In front of 100 people.

A police investigation has been launched after this tragic accident.
