Sattahip, January 16, 2012 [PDN]; Pol. Lt. Col. Pornchai Kingsawat, Plutaluang police station, Chonburi province was notified there about a burning vehicle on Sukhumvit road km marker 183 Sattahip-Rayong route at Khao Kaek curve in Plutaluang, Sattahip, Chonburi province.

At the scene of the fire. On the side of the road the police found a burning Toyota Corolla model “Doremon” blue color, license number WOR HOR-9027 Bangkok with black smoke billowing causing a 2 km long traffic jam.
The police cleared the area of onlookers. And extinguished the fire. The car was completely burned out. But driver Mr. Boonlert Racha age 40, the employee of PTT Co., Ltd. U-Tapao airport survived.
Upon investigation Mr. Boonlert , the driver, said that this car was his elder brother’s friend’s car. Before fire he drove to work in U-Taphao airport but on the way the engine died. He parked the car. Hired a motorbike since he thought he had ran out petrol. While waiting he tried to start again. Whooosh! and suddenly the car was on fire. Burning violently. Mr Boonlert managed to get out of the car. He survived.

Pol. Lt. Col. Pornchai Kingsawat, investigative officer said that the cause could be from the leakage from the petrol line. That stopped the engine. And when the driver started the engine again. A spark from the electrical system from this old Toyota could have ignited the leaking petrol. Whoosh, the petrol tank and whole Corolla is on fire!
