Pattaya, January 5, 2012 [PDN]; Pol. Capt. Jeerasak Aebhaeng, Banglamung police station, was notified by Banglamung hospital staff that that a baby had died of unknown causes. The parents had brought the baby from their house in Tambon Nong Preu, Banglamung, Chonburi province to the hospital.
The police arrived to the emergency room and found the tiny corpse of “Nam” nickname, age 11 days with a darken face. The police did not find any traces of violence on the dead baby’s body.
The doctor indicated the baby died of asphyxiation (lack of oxygen) Nearby the infant’s corpse was Mr. Vittaya age 26, the diving trainer, and Mrs. Ithiva age 30, the parents of the baby crying profusely.
Upon investigation Mrs. Ithiva who had a black left eye after being beaten by her husband said, that after she and Mr. Vittaya got married they had their first child, a daughter 11 days ago.
But after mid-night yesterday (January 4, 2012) they had a big fight and the husband hit Mrs. ithiva who escaped to her mother’s house.
But being worried but about her daughter she returned to feed the baby next morning. Thereafter they slept together until 15:30 hrs. Mrs. Ithiva woke up and found that her daughter didn’t breathe so she called her husband for help and they rushed the baby to the hospital but it was too late. Little “Nam” was already dead.
Pol. Capt. Jeerasak said, that after interrogating the parents he didn’t find anything suspicious. However, the police will send the baby’s body for autopsy to determine the cause of death.
