American Ph.D. Teacher Helps Hydrocephalic Sattahip “Boy Karn”

A senior American English teacher at Ratchamongkol Bangkok college came to assist boy "Karn" suffering from " water in the brain " with an abnormally large head. Dr. Lesnick arranged admission for the sick child at a well known private hospital in Pattaya and will pay for the cost of the treatment, since the local healthcare system was unable to help this severely handicapped child.

Sattahip, December 30, 2011[PDN]; Dr. Haward Lesnick age 70, English teacher of Ratchamongkol Bangkok college together with his students went to see Mr. Pramote Uamprasert age 43, the driver of the Deputy Lord Mayor Tambon Kethudomsak and Mrs. Umporn Uamprasert age 44, mother of Noppakorn Uamprasert or “Boy Karn” age, 2 years and 7 months suffering from hydrocephalus or “water in the the brain” with an abnormally large head measuring 92 cm.

Mr. Pairoj Malakul na Ayudhaya, the Lord Mayor provided the ambulance to pick up “Boy Karn” from the rental room number 12 at 82/95 Soi Sattahip Sukhumvit 69, Sattahip to be admitted at Bangkok-Pattaya hospital. All the neighbours were there to send off “Boy Karn” and wished him Bon Voyage!

 

Dr. Harward Lesnick said, that after he read the news on Pattaya Daily News website about “Boy Karn” he felt pity for the child and his poor family. But he didn’t understand why the government hospital said that they cannot help him without a neurological/neurosurgical specialist consultation.

Dr. Lesnick contacted ” Boy Karn’s” parents because he want the child to have proper medical care in order to have a better life and less suffering. He agrees to pay for the cost of the hospital expenses. Mr. Pramote and Mrs. Umporn, the parents of “Boy Karn” were immensely grateful for the help provided by Dr. Harward Lesnick.

 

They said, that whatever the result will be, if the doctors can cure their son or not, they will accept the final diagnosis and will take care of “Boy Karn” until his last breath. They would also they would like thank and acknowledge all the donations they have received. The PDN reporter said, that the assistance of this American Ph.D. may reflect why Thai people still neglect the needs of the handicapped children.

Pattaya Daily News would like to say thank you to Dr. Howard Lesnick for proving urgently needed neurological specialist assessment and guidelines for the future care of hydrocephalic “Boy Karn” who is almost three years old.
