“Beware of Shakedown Police” Posters Seen in Pattaya

Pattaya locals put up posters: “Beware of Shakedown Police” at Photisarn Soi 2 in North Pattaya. Stating that the police too often set up checkpoints to catch illegal drivers. The local people have reacted strongly because they suspect money is being extorted.

Pattaya, October 25, 2011[PDN]; Pattaya media was informed by Sawangboribul Foundation in Na Klua, Chonburi province that posters had appeared blaming the police operation at Photisarn Soi 2.

At the scene on a big tree, near the intersection the media found two posters stating: “ Beware of Corrupt Police Here” the other poster saying: “Beware of Shakedown Police Here” .

Media asked the locals in the area, but they did not know who put up the two posters.

The reporter also said that at the zone between Banglamung police station and Muang Pattaya police station check points were frequently set up.

The locals say they are annoyed by the these unnecessary checkpoints and suspect money is being extorted. This explains why they posted the messages in the public area.

I agree with one poster, be legal and ytou have nothing to worry about. & yeaRS Ago, it was to common a sight of people with no helmet. Increased police action has far more people wearing helmets than I remember 7 years ago .Complaining about police shakedowns for their beer money, then you put and end to it. Wear a helmet, have proper license, and have car or motorbike legal. Oh let us not forget, drive in the right direction on the major one way roads in Pattaya
