Teenage Girl Swindles Several Pattaya Street Vendors

A teenage girl, 16 years old was arrested on charges defrauding money from street vendors all over Pattaya. She claimed she had no money for the daily room and motor bike rent. More than ten vendors were swindled.

Pattaya, October 23, 2011[PDN]; Pattaya police detained Ms. Orn, age 16 from Nong Phai village, Petchaburi province, living in Soi Kor Phai , South Pattaya, Moo 10, Tambon Nong Preu, Banglamung, Chonburi on charges of fraud. Mr. Promsak Jaemaming age 29, a chicken barbeque vendor one of the victims notified he had been swindled by Ms. Orn.

Mr. Promsak said, one evening as he was selling his barbecue chicken in front of Soi Jomtien 3. Ms. Orn turned up and ordered 13 barbecue chickens. And as she was talking on the mobile phone, non-stop, she asked Mr. Promsak to change a 1,000 THB banknote.

 

Mr. Promsak believed her and gave her the change for 1,000 THB in ten 100 THB bank notes but without getting the thousand Baht banknote from Ms.Orn. As Ms. Orn got the change she swiftly escaped on her motorbike. After the swindle occurred Mr. Promsak together with other victims went to notify the police to arrest her.

Upon her arrest Ms. Orn confessed that she had swindled the money from the vendors and the banknotes were still in her bag, which the police had seized as evidence. Later, the police found there were many victims who had been swindled.

 

They were vendors of clothes, gift items and groceries in Soi Kor Phai and Soi Bongkot, all of them of them defrauded by Ms. Orn, the young swindler. Each of the victims said that Ms. Orn used the same trick or to order a lot of goods and each time ask to change a thousand THB banknote.

Upon investigation Ms. Orn confessed that she had defrauded the vendors. She said she needed the money to pay for the room and the motorbike rent. Ms. Orn claimed that she wanted to stop swindling people but she could not because the money was easy.

The police charged her with fraud. Miss Orn will be prosecuted according to the Thai law. Other swindled victims are asked to come forward and report at Pattaya Police Station soonest possible.
