Pattaya TV Host Killed Wife & Son Injured In High-speed Crash

A Chonburi pickup speeding a down a bridge, hits a concrete block.The driver dies instantly. His wife and his 10-year-old son are stuck inside the truck severely injured. Police manages to extract the passengers. The driver was a well known host of local cable TV program.

Pattaya September 25, (PDN) 2011 Pol. Lt. Col. Chaiyaporn Thongnapeang Pattaya Police was notified about an accident involving a pickup truck hitting a concrete block.The driver died and two persons were severely injured. The accident occurred on highway number seven, section 5 Moo 11, Chonburi province.

At the scene the police found a Toyota Vigo, four-door, blue pickup, license number KOR ROR-8517 Chonburi. Inside the severely damaged overturned vehicle two injured persons: Mrs. Yaadroong Cheuwong age 40 and her son Panumat ” Boy” Cheuwong age ten. The rescue team extracted them out of the vehicle and sent them to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital.

The police also found the driver, the husband, Mr. Veerasak Salikanant age 49, dead at the steering wheel. The corpse was extracted and taken to Banglamung hospital.

A witnesses said that before the accident occurred, he saw the pickup truck driving with at high speed along the highway number seven to Pattaya. And when driving down the bridge the driver may have fallen a sleep and crashed into the concrete block on the road causing the truck to overturn, resulting in his death and severe injuries to his wife and his son

Airbags are an option on pick-up trucks here in Thailand, and I've seen some fancy high end 2011 models that do not have them.
Something to think about if you buy one.
