Pattaya (September 14, 2011) [PDN]; The Pattaya crocodile hunt is still on. In the morning of September 14, the staff of the Million Year Stone Park and Crocodile Farm Pattaya, mobilised a croc hunting team of more than 30 people to hunt down every single escaped crocodile.
Mr Suan Panonvattanakul, Chairman of the Park together with park officers reported that the crocodiles escaped from their breeding ponds due to the severe rain storm which hit Pattaya on September 11, 2011.

Six of the large ponds contained all together 2,890 crocs in an area covering 10 rai with a water depth of 12 meters. Parts of the three meter high wall had collapsed and the crocodiles could escape through a hole in the wall.
The crocodile farm staff needed four days and four nights to capture the 29 crocs.
The crocodile farm owners will re-construct the ponds and use a stronger material for the walls. The reconstruction will start immediately.
Mr Suan Panomvattanakul added that, if there were still were escaped crocs on the lose, the farm will give a reward of 5,000 THB per crocodile for any person who can find a crocodile. He added that these reptiles are farm crocodiles and not as aggressive and dangerous as the wild crocodile species.
