Pattaya – Man Asleep At Wheel Runs Red Light Pregnant Wife Injured

A grilled-fish merchant fell asleep at the wheel, ran a red light and crashed into a garbage truck. The driver's pregnant wife almost died. Driver confessed he was exhausted and fell asleep while driving.

Pattaya, August 23, 2011[PDN ; Police Lieutenant Colonel Songkram Puneaam Police was informed of a traffic accident involving a pickup truck with one person injured at the traffic light,Central Pattaya, Nongprue.

At scene, the police team and the rescue team found a pick-up truck , Toyota Mighty X license Bor Tor 4318 Mahasarakarm province. The vehicle was severely damaged. Nearby, a six-wheel garbage truck with a heavily damaged front. Upon investigation the injured was indentified as Ms Roongrat Permpoon age 26 and eight months pregnant. First aid was provided and Ms Roongrat was sent to Banglamung Hospital.

The garbage truck driver Mr Sompop, age 56, address :13/1 Moo 2 Tambon Wat Bot , Amphur Panusnikom, Chonburi, said he was driving to Pattaya and arrived at the traffic light showing green he saw the pick up-truck that Mr Samransak Sopnet aged 29 was driving caming through the red light. Mr Sompop could not break and the two vehicles collided.

Mr.Samransak the pick-up driver said that he and his wife had just finished work and were going home. He was exhausted and fell a sleep at the wheel, which was the cause of the accident. The police will investigate the scene of the accident regarding evidence and will proceed according to the law.
