Animal love is a difficult thing. Sometimes, it can lead people to such extremes that they tend to diminish the significance of, well, people.

These thoughts course through my being as I read reports that People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals intends to unleash a porn site.

Reuters, in the midst of a wider exposition of .xxx domains, reported that PETA doesn’t intend, as do so many ethically upright companies, to block its .xxx domain. No, the organization’s representative reportedly declared that Peta.xxx will be a porn site that “draws attention to the plight of animals.”

Some of those who view porn on their laptops (I use a Mac. There is no porn on Macs) tell me that they sometimes feel for the plight of humans in these movies. They say there is nothing remotely ethical about the manner in which members of the human race are occasionally debased.

There again, PETA has not been shy about using nude people and sex in order to further its cause. Who could forget the organization’s Super Bowl ad- banned by NBC–which suggested that veggie-lovers have better sex?

So it should be no surprise to read this quote from PETA spokeswoman Lindsay Rajt to the Huffington Post: “We live in a 24 hour news cycle world, and we learn the racy things we do are sometimes the most effective way that we can reach particular individuals.”

Which particular individuals can she possibly mean? Still, Rajt reportedly confirmed the porn site plan. Which leaves us–both particular and nonparticular individuals–to consider what this porn site might entail.
Here, I have some ecstatic news to impart.

For Rajt reportedly went on to say this to the Huffingtoners: “There will be a lot of girl and boy next door content, but we haven’t ruled out celebrities on the site as well. People who are extraordinarily dedicated to helping animals and who are willing to do whatever it takes to draw attention to the suffering they endure.”

Might one imagine, therefore, that strong Peta-ists like Alicia Silverstone will be making a porn movie for Peta.xxx? And let’s not forget that Ron Jeremy and Sasha Grey have also performed in previous PETA activities.
Please, stop right there.

Reports suggest that PETA will use a little naked human flesh before flashing images of the nasty things that humans do to animal flesh. Still, I can imagine that, should this be a subscription-only affair, it will surely attract a considerable and very particular following.
