Bangkok Top Travel Destination For Thai Domestic Travel 2010

The Director General of Department of Tourism revealed the statistics of Thai domestic travel in 2010. Bangkok was the number one travel destination for Thais.

The statistics reveals that around 101 million Thai people travel per year. Bangkok is still the most desired destination.

The statistics of Thai domestic travel or Thais travelling around Thailand; 101.3 million Thais travelled domestically in Thailand (1 person might travel more than once per year) an increase from 2010: 17.29 %.

Income generated from the domestic Thai travels 402,574.39 million THB or increase 52.04 %
-Average travel time: 2.59 days increase from year 2009 average travel time: 2.35 days.

-Average expenditure: 1,736.38 THB / day / person, increase 12.72%

The above figures were over of the target set by Thailand Tourism Authority. They expected 90 million people and 400,000 million THB for the 2010 income.

As for the first quarter of this year, the department of tourism have summarized the travel statistics and is waiting for the verification from the Thailand Authority of Tourism.

Measured by province, Bangkok has the most pulling power for Thai travellers; 38.22 million people, increase 27.25 % from year 2010. This result includes business and leisure travel.

Second: Pattaya with 8.31 million people, increase 93.07%

Third: Ayuthaya, 6.53 million people, increase 82.37%

Fourth: Kanchanaburi, 5.74 million people, increase 25.25%

Fifth: Phuket 5.47 millions people, increase 62.07%
