The problem should be brought up monthly at the expats meetings and a representative from the Thai pol there to answer ques.
Also, there is no way these guys are enterpreneurs as stated in the article, it is well known, exactly what they are, by the farang community, who are second class citizens here. !

It's amazing that they can't make enough money on the rental fee alone, without having to resort to this BS.

they are making so much money a total ban is unlikely as there is so much cash to spread around. the guy with the flowery shorts and his back to the camera is a big player on the beach I have seen him "at work" many times. Never risk renting a ski on pattaya beach.

Whichever way you look at it the rental of a powered vessel that can achieve speeds that jet skis do by maritime law require the pilot to hold a boat/vessel operators license this is also written under thai law.

So the owners of these craft are breaking the law in the first instance by renting these craft to unlicensed pilots.

The other part is that most of these jet skis along with the rental motorbikes that fill the entire beachfront and parked illegally are owned and operated by the police so how is city hall going to tell the bib to stop their ways.

Either ban them or force the operators to include a 100% damage waiver in the rental agreement with no exceptions to be exploited; problem solved. City Hall does not really want to solve this problem or it would have been done years ago.

It's a real shame to let a few dishonest businessmen destroy the image of a country that welcomes tourists from all over the world. The fact that the local police appear to be in collusion with the local mafia is shameful in itself -- a bearer of a uniform must be above all doubts and trusted 100% -- anything less is embarassing, but these apparent preconceived negotiations to make both parties happy is the result of collusion. Pattaya was Pattaya without jet skis and will still be the same friendly fun loving city when jet skis have long gone. Nobody will miss them
