Two Known Ya-Ba Dealers Killed in Pattaya Police Shoot Out

Two known suspects guilty of many crimes in Chonburi Province were extrajudicially killed in a Pattaya police shoot out. Large quatities of ya-ba and ya-ice were found with the suspects.

Pattaya, July 13, 2011,(PDN) Pol.Col.Somneuk Jankate, Banglamung Police was informed that the Banglamung police team led by Pol.Lt.Col.Nit Witinuntakit were involved in a gun fight with the suspects. The two suspects were killed and one of the police officers was injured. The incident took place at a rented room in Red Hot Resort in Nakluea. Officer Nit along with his team, Banglumung Deputy Governer and Pattaya Sawangboribooon rescue team and a physician from Banglamung Hospital rushed to the scene.

At the scene, the bodies of the two suspects, Mr Surachart Keawchingduang or “Tum Banlang”, 27, and Mr Aris Wangwang,or “Kai Nongprue” ,17, were found dead. Their motorbikes were damaged by gunfire. More than 50 bullets fired by the police were discovered. The police also found 1,000 tablets of ya-ba and two bags of ya-ice, a digital scale, other drug paraphernalia and a magazine with bullets on Tum’s body. Pol.Sgt.Maj.Peeramongkol Karaket, who was shot in his left leg, was taken to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital.

Pol.Col.Somneuk stated that the two suspect were arrested by undercover agents who were supposed to purchase a gun from the suspects. When the police showed up and wanted to search their bodies, they fired at the police and the police had to shoot in self defense leading to the extrajudicial killing.

Pol.Lt. Gen. Tangai Prasajaksatru also stated that the two suspects were known criminals. “Tum Banlang” had four arrest warrants i.e for intention to kill, trying to kill police officer, drug dealing and rape.

The most recent crime he comitted was shooting a police officer at Pattaya 36 Road near Peera International Circuit. As for “Kai Nongpreu”, he was a major drug dealer and suspected of many crimes.
The police acted in self defense as the suspects did not turn themselves in and started firering against at the police. The Banglamung Deputy Governor and prosecutor from Pattaya court went to the crime scene to examine the deadly shooting.
