A collision between a pick-up truck and a motorbike in front of Chonburi Pest Administration in Nongprue. The deadly accident resulted from the biker riding against the traffic

Pattaya July 12, 2011 (PDN) Pol.Major Pratipat Pumli, Pattaya Police was informed of a collision between a pick-up truck and a motorbike at the u-turn point in front of Chonburi Pest Administration in Nongprue. The police was rushed to the scene with the rescue team of Pattaya Sawangboriboon.

At the accident scene, the police found a tyre mark on the road and a Honda Click motorbike, registration Ngor-Tor-Sor 200 Chonburi. The bike was badly damaged. At the traffic island about 100 meters away from the motorbike the police found a Mitsubishi Starda pick-up truck, registration Bor-Sor 4539 Chonburi and the body of the woman aged about 18-25 years. The motorbike rider who had bounced off her bike into the traffic island had broken limbs, a skull fracture and multiple lacerations on her body.

Mr Chalerm Homjitr, 60, a driver employed by Pattaya Song-Taw Co-op also the witness, reported to the police that before the accident the victim had asked him for the direction to Soi Korpai. He told her that Soi Korpai was in South Pattaya and told her to use the u-turn and not to ride against the traffic. But the victim rode off direction to South Pattaya against the flow of traffic resulting in the violent collision and her death. The suspect, the driver of the pick-up fled the scene as the onlookers arrived.

The police assumes that the victim’s death was caused by riding against the traffic which lead to the collision between her motorbike and the pick-up truck which alledgedly was driving at high speed. Her body will taken to Banglamung hospital for indentification and her relatives will be contacted.
The pick-up truck is kept as evidence and the police is searching for the driver

Is there a need for the cops/ paramedics/government workers to point at the bodies? What does that mean anyway?

And why did the driver run when it was the motorbike cyclist who was at fault?

Strange how the cops in Thailand are always laughing when they point to the dead body of a victim.
