Pattaya, 28 May 2011, [PDN]: Pol. Cap Tanasiti Kaenleum (Pattaya Police Deputy Investigator) was called to investigate a robbery in the side-street near All Season Hotel, Central Pattaya.

An Australian man, Nathan Eddy, 30 and his wife, Jessica McLennan, 22 were robbed while they were on their motorbike, the police reported.
According to Nathan, the Thai thief attempted stealing his wife’s handbag but was unsuccessful.
Jessica held her bag so tightly to her body that the robber could not snatch it away, Nathan said adding that the mugger fell off his bike during the struggle.
The thief tried to run away but he was too slow, Nathan added.

The robber was soon detained with the help of bystanders after Nathan yelled out for help, the police said.
According to Jessica, her bag only contained cosmetics and that their money was kept in Nathan’s pocket.
She said they were aware of the robbery issues in Pattaya and that keeping money in the pocket was the best way.
Jessica, whose legs were grazed during the struggle, was sent to the hospital for medical care.
Meanwhile Sakol Juntraporn was taken to the police station for further questioning and investigation.
The coffee seller of Sriracha, Sakol told the police that while he was visiting his friends in Pattaya, he had robbed the tourists because he needed money to pay off his debt.
However the police were not convinced by his story and believed that he was a member of a theft gang in Pattaya
