Koh Si Chang, 18th April 2011 [PDN] 9.30 a.m.: At Koh Kham Yai beach (Tatewong, Koh Si Chang, Chonburi) the mayor of Koh Si Chang District, Mr. Damrong Petra welcomed both local and international tourists to the island for the celebration of Wan Lai Day and the famous ‘Let’s Carry You To The Beach’ tradition, which was held in Koh Si Chang. The mayor also advised local people and tourists to celebrate the Songkran Festival with sensible manners.

There were traditional shows performed by Koh Si Chang and Koh Kham Yai local people. Many tourists enjoyed these performances.
Every year, on 18th April Koh Si Chang people generally host Wan Lai Day together with Songkran Festival. The ‘Let’s Carry You To The Beach’ event was also held, in which the young people carry the elderly and their loved ones to the sea. In return the elderly will bless their younger family members on Thai’s New Year.

Other traditional games played by the local people include pillar climbing and long-boat competition.
Both local and international tourists love these traditional events, as indicated by the increasing numbers of attendees every year.
