Italian Man Jailed For In-flight Sexual Assault

A Dubai court has put an Italian man in prison for four months for sexually assaulting a drugged and drunk woman in the December 4 incident on a flight from Jakarta, an Emirati newspaper reported.

The National said the court heard that the unidentified man, aged 53, “grabbed the woman’s leg, laid it between his, massaged her feet, then took off his shirt and touched himself inappropriately.”

“He later touched the woman’s thighs and breasts,” said the English-language daily today.

The woman, also not identified, had fallen asleep after “taking a sleeping pill and drinking alcohol,” it said.

The man “used a blanket to cover the woman’s leg when he put it between his.”

A Polish stewardess intervened and the man was reported to Dubai police.

Sentencing took place yesterday but it was unclear if the jail term included time already served.
