Pattaya, 29th March 2011 [PDN]: At 12 p.m., Mr. Thawat Puekboonnak, the Chairman of Song-Taew Bus Public Service Co-Operation along with 50 other members submitted a petition to Mr. Ronnakij Eakkasing, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya, at Pattaya City Hall.

He complained that there had been too many taxis and motorbike taxis coming from Bangkok and operating illegally in Pattaya. These drivers caused too much troubles as they committed more crimes and fighting. This could affect the image of legal Pattaya taxi drivers. Also tourists could misunderstand and judge the reputation of Pattaya taxi services based on the experience with Bangkok drivers.

the baht bus can be seen as useful because they are cheap.
the pattaya taxis are scam artists.
"meter taxis" which never turn on their meters.
when some bangkok taxis are in town, they are THE ONLY METER TAXIS in Pattaya, because PATTAYA HAS NO METER TAXIS!
that would be another topic for the mayor's facebook page
I never experience a taxi in pattaya that use the meter
how ever there is never a taxi on the road when you need one , I say let any one drive a taxi in pattaya there are not enough of them.
I can get form the airport here with 800 bath ..
but try to go from 2end road front of the avenue to north pattaya Big C ... they will ask you 250 bath ,
yes I know 10 bath does the same ....with the tok tok.

When a Pattaya taxi takes someone to the airport, are they allowed to bring a passenger back to Pattaya?
