Pattaya, 10th March 2011 [PDN]: At 11:30 a.m., Police Captain Inspecting Officer of Banglamung Department was informed that a foreigner had died in his home (located at No.9/13 Tungklom-Tanman 12 Moo.8, Nongprue, Banglumung, Chonburi). He hurried to the crime scene along with Pol. Gen. Somnuek Janket, Pol. Lt. Gen Supachat Piemmanus and paramedic team from Sawang Somboon, Pattaya.
Upon arrival at the victim’s house, the body was discovered hanging in the attic. The victim’s name was Mr. Steineer Rolf Anton, a 60-year-old Swiss man. He was wearing a blue shirt and black shorts. He used a nylon rope to hang himself. Officers inspected the body and found no attacking marks, indicating that the cause of death was possibly due to a suicidal hanging.
According to the victim’s sister, Mrs. Bunler Isis Maria, the Swiss victim has been living in Thailand for four years with his Shih Tzu – a Chinese dog breed. Mrs. Bunler reported that she came to Thailand last week to take care of her brother. Based on her knowledge, the victim previously dated a Thai girl. Since the relationship ended, the victim became depressed and stressed. However, Mrs. Bunler did not think that her brother would commit suicide because the victim was fine a few days ago.
The police suspected that the cause of death was highly likely to be a result of stress and depression. The body will be transported to the forensic laboratory at the Police Hospital to establish the cause of death. Furthermore the police also planned to question surrounding witnesses for more information.
It was reported that at the time of discovery, the Shih Tzu was still guarding the hanging body, barking at anyone who approached it.
