Pattaya, 3rd March 2011: – The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) works from Bangkok, which is ASEAN’s exhibition hub, and they work as coordinators for premier exhibitions, using “state of the art” technologies. The TCEB operate in conjunction with the older MICE group, which specializes as promoters for Corporate & Incentive meetings. President of TCEB Mr. Akapol Sorasuchart, stated that, “Thailand’s international trade fair industry has retained its leadership in the region. In 2009 the international trade fair industry was valued at about 10,509 million baht with a total of 75 events, (the highest number in the region).” Thailand continues to maintain its leadership in the ASEAN area, judged not only by the number of exhibition events held but also by four other key criteria; – (annual size, which amounted to 466,500 square metres; average size per fair, which amounted to 6,220 square metres per event; and total revenue, which reached 4.5 billion baht; – (an average of 60 million baht per event); plus finally, – in terms of the number of exhibition centres.

Thailand has 8 world-class Exhibition Centres recognized by the international exhibition industry association UFI as complying with international standards. Mr. Akapol went on to say, “It’s clear that, in the ASEAN region, that Thailand still has high potential for the international exhibition industry. The Kingdom was ranked fourth in Asia, as it came after Hong Kong, China and Japan, therefore showing the high standards of Thailand’s international trade fair industry and its potential for further growth……. The exhibitions industry is therefore of great significance to the country’s economy.”
