Pattaya, 28th February 2011 [PDN] At approximately 2 am, Lt Col Prasit Mansri, Pattaya Police Investigator, was notified of a burglary and the loss of valued articles at 389/210, Soi Pratamnuk 4, Moo10,Nongprue, Banglamung. Together with Science Division Police specialists, the investigator rushed to examine the scene.

On arrival, they found a 4-storey townhouse where a group of 5 Russian tourists were waiting to provide statements. Under investigation, it was noticed that the burglars had gained entry through a ventilator in a 3rd floor bathroom en suite to the 3rd floor bedroom. There were signs of belongings being ransacked in the 3rd floor bedroom and the ground floor. In addition, a 12-inch long sharp pointed knife had been left on the bed.
Mr. Goodchelip Varadimier (38), a Russian national, stated that he and his friends came to Pattaya for a holiday to stay at a friend’s house while the owner was absent. Before the incident occurred, they had gone out for the evening. They returned home to find the house had been broken into. The articles stolen included a 42” LCD TV, a platinum ring, 2 platinum necklaces and some cash, total value estimated at 200,000 baht. They immediately informed the landlord and the police.

After initial investigation, the investigator presumed the offenders to be a practiced gang who observed the dweller’s movements and knew when they were out.
None of the neighbours had noticed the incident but it is conjectured that the offenders may well be the same gang who broke into a house nearby one week ago to steal a lot of articles and a car before fleeing.
However the Science Division Police have kept the offender’s thumbprints and knife found at the scene as evidence.
