At the scene, there was a detached 2-story house where lots of villagers had gathered around. A distraught American man, Mr. Charles Wayne Shehane (56) was found in his bedroom holding a gun. The officer managed to talk him into handing over the .22 gun, which contained 4 bullets, as well as another airgun and 2 bullet shells lying nearby. However Mr. Shehane was still yelling, he would not allow anyone to approach him.
An hour later, the rescue officer managed to overpower Mr. Shehane and restrain him before sending him to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital for sedation.

Unfortunately, Mrs. Shehane had suffered from massive stress causing her to commit suicide by shooting herself at home. Mr. Shahane had been extremely depressed since, frequently crying when he looked at his wife’s photo. Recently Mr. Ketbut accompanied Mr. Shehane for treatment at the hospital for depression but he only received some nerve pills.
Mr. Ketbut added that today, when he and his wife were out, a neighbour called him saying that his boss was trying to hang himself from the front balcony. Mr. Ketbut and wife rushed home to find the neighbours helping to get Mr. Shehane down safely. On noticing that Mr. Shehane was very excited, insisting on committing suicide by hanging and shooting, Mr. Ketbut then called Sawang Borriboon Rescue to assist.
