Pattaya, 3rd January 2011 [PDN]: At approximately 04.00 a.m, Pattaya police investigator Lieutenant General Bricha Samti was notified of a foreign man who had been stabbed with a knife and robbed in a dark soi near the Pattaya Paladium on Second Road.
A police and medical team were dispatched to the scene, where they found the wounded man, Mr Andrey Grishin, a 38-year-old Russian, sitting on a wooden bench screaming for help. He had a serious stab wound which had cut through his shoulder through to the armpit, leaving his arm hanging and bleeding profusely. He was immediately sent to the Pattaya Memorial Hospital.
In spite of his injury, Mr. Grishin was still able to tell the police that he had left his room no. 2204 at the Holiday Inn to take a drink at an entertainment venue. He was not familiar with the streets of Pattaya and on his way back he went along the wrong soi, where he met a group of workers by a construction site who were drinking.
They greeted him and asked him to join them. They gave him a glass of alcoholic drink and as he raised it to say “cheers” one of the Thai men tried to stab him in the head. Mr.Grishin said he moved quickly to avoid the knife but he was stabbed in the shoulder. After that, the group of about 5 men scattered and ran . At first Mr. Grishin didn’t realize why he had been stabbed, but then he noticed that all his belongings were gone, with nothing left but his tourist guide handbook.
Police immediately carried out a search for the criminals, who were known to be staying close to the construction site where they were working. Once found, the suspects can expect to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Who told you that Russians can not get visa to any European city.
Your statements correspond to your name DONKEY//Bob from the US.
When will foreigners realize that the thai males cannot stand them and the thai females TOLERATE you for your money.
Hope he has a lot of money to give to them.
Much progress made!
Heads the thai wins, tails the farang loses in ALL situations!
Oh and by the way nothing will be done and nobody will be prosecuted over this...
The police are far more interested in making ridiculous headline grabbing 'raids' (such as the complete closing down of pattaya klang in high season) than they are in catching real murderous low life criminals.
for a so-called resort City in Particular. It seems that 'full extent of the Law' means nothing here for Thais. It would be great to get a follow up of the Full extent of the Law for these low lifes. Sounds like he was just trying to be sociable and not for free cheap drink.
I'm hoping the man recovers without permanent injury. Sad!
-apart from a bad exchange rate on the baht-people go on holiday to relax and i am affraid to say thailand-pattaya inpaticular is finished,.muggings/robbery/-even death in some cases!! not the best of holiday destinations.
and believe me i no from from experience been pattaya many times
over the years... the police only make examples of us farrang.
robbing farrang is common practice when dealing with the police,.
have known thai bar girls doing 2yrs in prison for stabbing a farrang!!! well thai authorities start making an example with your own people,.
because what is unfair there are also some wonderful thai people whome i have met and become firm friends with over the years,.
the goverment should be helping their people instead of leaving them in financial ruin_expecially those from up country.
"would love for mr takasin 2 return
unfortantly this will never happan

Only if they happen to be Burmese, Lao or Khmer.
Shoulda read the handbook where it says don't drink homemade whisky out of sandwich bags in dark alley with construction workers...
If he's staying at the Holiday Inn, he's got some money - would he socialise with construction workers back home, I doubt it.
Will it ever end !
