Pattaya, 30th December 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 13.30 at Pattaya City Hall, Police Lieutenant Taing Prasajagsatu, Commander of Region 2, Mayor Mr. Ithipon Khunphluem and Senior officials of the Police Department, gathered for the benefit of the media to announce an increase in anti crime measures in the run up to 2011, the year of the rabbit. The campaign to offer a higher protection against crime is a joint operation between the police and units of the military.

Also, Pattaya’s CCTV’s have been tested, which are important tools not only in the control of the city’s traffic but also in the prevention of crime.
After the briefing, units of the police and marines gathered on Pattaya’s Beach Road to display their readiness on both land and sea to protect properties and lives during the New Year celebrations. Overall more than 800 personnel were gathered including units from S.W.A.T, army sniffer dogs (for detecting weapons), the navy and the marine rescue service.


Police Lieutenant Taing Prasajagsatu said that Thailand’s national police chief had asked every police station across the country to mobilize for an effective and successful control of crime over the New Year, addressing any potential problems that could affect security, safety and tourism.
Commanders of region 2 have asked every unit involved to be vigilant and incessant, to give the people of Thailand and tourists security and accident free travel throughout the New Year.
