German Man Dies In Bed Watching Porn
Pattaya, November 19, 2010, [PDN]: On 18th December 2010, Banglamung Deputy Police Investigator, Lieutenant Colonel Issaranuwat Jongapichaikul, received a report that a male tourist had been found dead in the Rattanasuk Inn hotel, Pattaya-Naklua road, Moo. 5. A police team was dispatched to investigate.
In room no. 203, on the 2nd floor, officials found the body of Mr. Michael Schmauch [57], a German national, lying dead on his back in the bed, wearing just his underpants. The TV was switched on and showing a sex movie on DVD.
There was no sign of foul play and on searching the room, police found a Blood Pressure Measuring Instrument, a few medical tablets, several pornographic DVD movies and his personal belongings. The police estimated he had been dead for about 6 hours.
Mr. Rerngsan Topimai [26], the hotel security guard, told the police that Mr. Schmauch had been staying in the hotel for over a month and he liked to drink and smoke and he had been suffering from heart disease.
On this day, nobody had seen him around and the hotel maid knocked on his door to clean his room but received no response. They presumed he might have had an accident or something untoward had happened, so Mr. Topimai used the balcony next door to climb into the room. He found the body of Mr. Schmauch lying dead in his bed and the authorities were notified.
The police speculated that Mr. Schmauch had health problems and he may have been overcome by the excitement of watching the sex movie. However, his body was sent for autopsy and the German Embassy informed.

1. They knew he was dead because he stopped breathing and had no pulse.
Also, as stated in the article, he hadn't been seen around the hotel and did not answer his door, that caused them to check and then discover he was dead.
2. As stated in the article, police estimated he had been dead for about six hours. The autopsy will be more precise.
3. What difference does it make how long the movie was on for? Do you want to borrow it? Most dvd players will keep replaying a movie if it is left in the player.
4. Do you want them to wait until the movie is over until they go in to check if the guy is ok? Maybe you're worried that the staff coming into the room while he was watching porn may have put the deceased off his "stroke"?

And really how does this make the news? It was not a suspicious death, people die everyday. By PDN putting this in as a story was just wrong. I don't understand how a man that dies in his bed watching porn makes the news and that the police are so very stupid and arrogant to make a medical opinion that the farang died from excitement over a porno. I did not know that the Thai police were so highly trained to to detect from the security guards statement that the farang has heart disease so from their conclusion the man died from over excitement of the porno. Wonder why they call it incredible Thailand???????
