Two katoeys posing as doctors conned another lady boy out of Bt3,000 after giving her facial silicone injections, ostensibly to enhance her beauty. Instead the injections caused severe facial swelling and made her blind in one eye.

Pattaya, November 14, [PDN]: A lady-boy, conned into having silicone injections to make her face more attractive by bogus medical practitioners, ended up blind due to the incompetence of the fakers. Attending a genuine clinic, the victim was told by the doctor that the silicone had actually been injected into the blood vessel and had caused a blockage of the blood pathway causing her to go blind.

The victim, Ms Nopparat Ampanun, [23] originally from Nakornpanom province, filed a complaint against the bogus pair with Pol.Lt.Col. Patsa Detpakkul, Pattaya police investigator, at 1am this morning, Nov14.

Ms Nopparat told police that she had been working in a go-go bar in Soi Yamato/Soi 13 /1) Pattaya Beach Road on Nov4, when the two individuals, Messrs A and Oh (pseudonyms), also katoeys, approached her at about 2:30 am. offering her Botox-like injections, which they said would make her more facially beautiful.

She agreed and duly turned up at their place where she was given seven injections of silicone, one in her forehead and three in each cheek at a total cost of Bt3000. She went home afterwards and went to bed, but when she awoke the next morning, she felt dizzy and nauseous, with a swollen bruised face. The bruising got progressively worse over the next 10 days, but when she woke at about midnight, Nov13, she had lost the sight in one eye and went straight to a clinic. There the doctor told her that the injections had been incompetently administered and had caused a blockage of the blood pathway making her blind in her left eye, whereupon she went to the police station and lodged a complaint.

Ms Nopparat told police that she did not know that the two lady boys were not qualified doctors. The officer filed her case and the two fake doctors will be sought and prosecuted for practising medicine without a licence. Ms. Nopparat was subsequently sent to the Banglamung Hospital for a thorough medical check.
