An almost destitute and confused British national provoked the curiosity of staff at a Pattaya bus station, who eventually called the police. He was, however, unable to shed any light on his condition and was subsequently sent to hospital for treatment.

Pattaya, November 11, 2010: A somewhat forlorn, Brit, between 40-45, was discovered asleep at the Rungrueng Tour Bus Terminal, North Pattaya, at 3pm on Nov10, apparently waiting for a bus. Concerned staff considered that the man could well have been the victim of a robbery and also on medication and consequently called the police.

When police arrived they attempted to question the man, but with little success, as he appeared confused, either due to his linguistic incompetence or state of health. The only fact they could establish was that he was British. He was found to have only Bt50 in cash and a bus ticket on his person. He was accordingly sent to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital for treatment in the hope that he would be fit to answer questions later.

The press was told by Rungrueng Tour Bus Terminal staff that it is a common occurrence to find robbery victims or those on medication languishing at the bus station. The staff member was keen for police to investigate further and discover if in fact the man was truly a robbery victim. The police have promised to follow up on the case.
