Russian Real Estate Investor Brutally Murdered in Pattaya

Share
A wealthy Russian businessman living in Pattaya was allegedly murdered by his lover and a gang of his fellow countrymen last week. At present, two suspects have been arrested after a brief chase and shootout with local police early on Wednesday morning.

Pattaya, the 20th of October 2010 [PDN]: Initially police were informed about the disappearance of Mr. Crishin Victor [36] when his mother, Mrs. Valentina Chishina [70] had recently reported to the Dongtan Police Station explaining that she had not seen or heard from her son since the 14th of October.

Following Mrs. Chichina’s report, a team of officers headed by Lieutenant Colonel Taratep Toopanich (Pattaya Deputy Superintendent) and under the watchful eye of Colonel Teerapol Jindaloung (Chon-Buri Police Deputy Commissioner) and Colonel Nunthawut Suwanla-ong (Pattaya Police Superintendent), began investigating into the disappearance of Mr. Victor, his last known whereabouts and activities.

In the course of their investigations officers discovered that Mr. Victor’s five bank accounts had been accessed everyday since his disappearance with a withdrawal of approximately Bt100,000 per day from teller machines around Pattaya. Suspecting something untoward, officers requested the bank to reduce the daily withdrawal amount to Bt20,000 per day while they investigated the incident further.

At approximately 1:00am on Wednesday, officers approached two foreign men driving a black Toyota Fortuner after they had stopped at an ATM on Sukhumvit road to withdraw cash from Mr. Victor’s bank account. Noticing police, the two men attempted to escape into nearby bushland. One of the men was subsequently shot twice by pursuing officers as he himself pulled a gun on the police in an attempt to flee the scene.

Officers detained the two men, now known to be Mr. Rashid Gasanov [36] and Mr. Aramsis (full name unknown) [32], both Russian nationals. Mr. Aramsis, was sent to the hospital to receive treatment for his wounds, while Mr. Gasanov was detained to the Pattaya Police Station for interrogation. A brief search of their vehicle uncovered Bt25,000 in cash, wire, tape, a shovel, black plastic bags and gasoline.

After a reported three-hour investigation, Mr. Gasanov confessed that both he and Mr. Aramsis assisted a third Russian man, Mr. Serge Alexandrov [24] in concealing the murder of Mr. Victor.

Detailed in his statement, Mr. Gasanov explained that the trio had deceived Mr. Victor into visiting his Phratamnak Soi 6 office on the evening of the 14th of October. Mr. Victor was then restrained and threatened by the men who requested that he tell them his ATM pin numbers. After given over the details of his bank accounts, Mr. Gasanov explained that Mr. Alexandrov proceeded to beat and torture him until he was unconscious. Mr. Alexandrov and Mr. Victor were reportedly lovers.

The trio then drove the unconscious body of Mr. Victor to a secluded area on Buddha Mountain where Mr. Alexandrov is alleged to have shot him twice before they buried his body and fled the scene. Mr. Gasanov alleges that both he and Mr. Aramsis were paid US$10,000 for assisting in the murder, plus the use of Mr. Victor’s ATM cards, which they withdrew approximately Bt300,000 from before their arrest on Wednesday.

Officer have since been taken to the grave where Mr. Victor was buried, extricating his remains for examination. Police found that Mr. Victor had been shot twice in the back by a small calibre weapon, while a USB computer cable had been tightly wound round his neck. The grave was approximately 1.5-meters in depth.

At present, Col. Teerapol was reluctant to reveal what charges the two men were facing, while Mr. Alexandrov is known to have presented himself to police, denying any involvement in the murder. He has subsequently been released without charge.

Murder released without charge, ridicolous - hundreds of foreigeners are getting murdered in Pattaya every year, of course all of them are "suicide cases" - it is time to take the Thai Police Force to the International Justice Court of Justice in Den Haag/Holland and give them long jail sentences
