Sattahip, the 17th of October 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 7:00pm on Sunday, the Sawang Rodjanatham Foundation Radio Center was notified of the presence of a large python, which was threatening to impede the motorcade of an important person along the Sukhumvit Road (Rayong-Pattaya) opposite Soi Kulab, Sattahip.

The report was filed by Senior Sergeant Major Thawatchai Thabthim (Sattahip Police Investigator) who was present at the scene when the snake appeared onto the road. Mr. Phichit Kiagkuthan (Sawang Rodjanatham Foundation Supervisor) immediately dispatched three snake handlers to assist in the removal of the python before the motorcade passed the area.
Arriving at the scene, where a substantial crowd had gathered to witness the incident, the animal handlers went about removing the large python, approximately 4 inches thick and 4 meters long, from the road. Successfully removing the serpent from the roadway, handlers then spent a further 10-minutes attempting to contain the agitated snake before releasing it in nearby bushland.

Snr Sgt Maj Thabthim exclaimed that the snake had appeared out of the roadside bushes within five meters of his designated patrol point (monitoring the procession along Sukhumvit Road). Worried for the serpents safety due to the impending motorcade about to pass by at speed, he notified the animal rescue services who promptly attended and contained the incident.
