Thai Man Arrested over Rape of Friends Two Teenage Daughters

On Friday, officers from the Huay Yai Police Station in Pattaya instigated an arrest warrant for the apprehension of a Thai man wanted in connection with the rape of two sisters under the age of fifteen.

Pattaya, the 15^th of October 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 2:30pm on Friday, Lieutenant Colonel Phaksuwat Chomthanorm (Huay Yai Police Investigator) along with a team of officers arrested Mr. Somboon Kradkrai [48] on Thetsabandamri Road, Prachinburi province.

Mr. Kradkrai was arrested using an warrant acquired from the Pattaya District Court pertaining to the rape of two sisters aged just 13 and 15-years-old on the 19^th of September this year. He had fled Pattaya after becoming aware that the victim’s parents, former friends of the man, had informed authorities of his crime.

In a police statement, the victim’s mother, Mrs Kaew (alias) [43] alleges that she, her husband and Mr. Kradkrai had been drinking whiskey together on the 19^th of September, after their friend and neighbour had appeared with the alcohol in the early evening. Having become significantly drunk at Mr. Kradkrai’s urging, both Mrs Kaew and her husband fell asleep, at which point Mr. Kradkrai committed the rapes.

The two girls subsequently informed their parents of the incident, despite Mr. Kradkrai warning them that he would kill them should they tell anyone of the rape. Mrs. Kaew and her husband proceeded to inform the authorities, while a rape test was performed and confirmed positive on both of the victims by a local hospital.

During over three weeks worth of investigations, police had managed to obtain an arrest warrant for Mr. Kradkrai, before finding that he had escaped the region for the eastern province of Prachinburi. Interacting with local authorities, Mr. Kradkrai was arrested on Friday outside a local convenience store in Prachinburi City, Prachinburi.

During interrogation with police, Mr. Kradkrai admitted to having attempted to rape the two teenage girls, but stated that he been unsuccessful. Police have since remanded him in custody awaiting further judicial proceedings to commence.

IF guilty no sympathy whatsoever, I hope they throw the book at him. My question is this though.

How does a hospital perform a "rape test"?? That isn't even possible in the West let alone here. If we could do "rape tests" we wouldn't need juries.

They can run a test that proves there was penetration and perhaps insemination but as far as I am aware there is no test proving matters were non consensual

I'd suggest this type crime is not at all uncommon in many villages. Locals tend not to report such incidents, knowing rarely any action is taken, and not wanting to bring "shame" upon the family. Most such incidents are reported and acted upon only if a farang is involved...
