Share
Bangkok police and bomb disposal crews yesterday removed a suspicious bag from in front of the Army Club in Bangkok. Subsequent investigations found that the package contained excrement, waste paper and sanitary pads with an attached letter attacking one of nations esteemed privy councillors.

Bangkok, the 16th of October 2010: The package was left next to the central traffic island outside the Army Club in Bangkok, near the residence of Privy Council president General Prem Tinsulanonda in Bangkok’s Thevej district.

According to authorities, Bangkok police were informed of the presence of the bag by a local street cleaner who had suspected that it might have been an explosive device. In response to the report, authorities and the Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD) attended the scene, blasting the package with a high-pressure water cannon.

On later inspection, officers found that the bag in fact contained what is thought to have been human excrement, waste paper and sanitary pads, while a handwritten note was found attacking Privy Council President Prem, who is a former Prime Minister of the nation.

Meanwhile, police in Samut Sakhon, southeast of the capital, discovered a small hoax bomb placed outside a local police station on Saturday. The device was a small wooden box with a damaged mobile phone and electrical wiring attached, to make it appear like a bomb.

Officers suspect that the incident was the doing of local teenagers looking to cause panic and uncertainty following numerous high-profile bombing incidents in the capital over the last few months.
