If you ban the English, there will be no more ladyboys, as their customer base is gone. If you ban the French, beachroad will no longer smell like a garbage dump. I live in the area and support the idea of removing these whores and ladyboys from the beach. if I want a prosty for the night I go to a bar, simple. prostitution is illegal in thailand, if you going to condone it at all why not confine it to the bars only. make the beach a safer more attractive place, these people have to go and then deal with the overabundance of street vendors, setup a market or something. the ones on the beach are all thieving aids infected flee bags anyway. Fining the customers seems like a harsh idea but as some have said it is only what they do in western countries. don't think you will go to prison, besides once you are fined once say 2000 baht or whatever if you go bad again then it is your own stupidf fault is it not? whatever a nice stroll down the beach without getting hassled would be lovely

Have no problems with the BIB trying to put on an act.I never go to Pattaya for the girls as they can be found everywhere.The problem is that so many things are connected.I love to go to Pattaya for the beach and the farang food.If the girls get chased away the customers will find other huntinggrounds and the resturaunts will start closing.The people selling things on the beach will be an even worse pain in the butt.I would be only too happy if Pattaya got cleaned up . . . . but the years that need to do this will not be fun for anyone.The bars already have too many girls working there so where would the beachwalkers go ? I have stayed in Pattaya (on a few rare occasions) although I live in Thailand. I was with my GF but the girls and katoeys pinched my arse all the way down beach road.

Clean up the city just like the rest of Thailands resorts and islands to make it better place. The editors comment is right but he/she seems to forget that all prostitution is illegal in Thailand.

The main reason people won't return for a while, is the ridiculous strengh of the baht...
There will be no 'new' money arriving from people wanting either a holiday, or retirement home. People with money/property already out there, can try and do a bit of wheeler dealing (myself for instance) but nobody in their right mind, is going to send large amounts of money over at these current rates..

Great idea PDN Editor. Now you're going to do the right-wing's job for them - namely cut off a major source of income for the Isaan and urban poor. You're going to hound their customers off to more tolerant destinations where the governing pragmatists don't pretend there's no prostitution - an ancient tradition in Thailand, existed long before tourism. There's nothing new about a girl taking some financial responsibility for her family while her male counterparts are leching after some mia noi or lounging around in a paralytic stupor of lao cao.

Kids are encouraged to leave school half-educated and to get out to "work" for the family. Widows and divorcees are reminded where their duties lie, particularly when they have kids to support. They have no experience of working and cannot earn a decent income. The main reason I visit Pattaya is to pick up cheap prostitutes off the Beach Road and take them back for a short time rogering. I just hope this current police policy doesn't interfere with my pleasures and joys of mongering up and down the Beach Road.

Stop biting the hand that feeds you Pattaya and Thailand. There are alternatives and a few of us are now considering more friendly places to go to visit with the girls, so you won't have any troubles at all..just empty condos, empty hotels, and empty restaurants and nothing but undesirable skinflints walking the streets - not spending ANY money.

So, if you make Pattaya unpleasant and more threatening to farangs than it already is, farangs will go to Vietnam, Philipines, or Costa Rica, meaning no work for the poor girls of Isaan, and starvation for their families (maybe that's the game - suppression of Isaan?). Farangs won't come, money won't be spent, your Beach Rd "cleanup" will happen on its own as your economy slides into the toilet.

We are talking about Beach Rd Pattaya. The moment you start to targeting the "customers" of prostitutes you will scare away any tourist to even walk on Beach Rd. Why you think 90% of all visitors of Pattaya come in the first place??? AND Why you think the girls from Isaan come to Pattaya?
In 95% of all negative incidents it is not the girls who start the problem. It is drug using Lady Boys and their pimps who bother any normal walking people.
